Last Reflections

As the August wind whisks through the woodland trees and over Lake Buckatabon, the camp season begins to come to a close. While campers finish up projects in art, text, and drama classes, they also begin to reflect on their time spent at camp. Many of the campers have found that their relationships with friends, their aidah, and the greater camp community have grown over the past couple months. Many campers also feel a sense of accomplishment and connection, whether it be conquering the heights of the ropes course, or reading Torah for the first time. While younger campers pride themselves in their newly-found independence, older campers spend time reflecting on their Ramah experience and the lessons they have learned over the summers.

David K. (Halutzim): This summer was pretty cool, especially boating and other stuff we did.

Josh G. (Halutzim): I really liked swimming this summer and ropes course.

Shaye G. (Halutzim): I really enjoyed playing basketball with all different aidot.

Josh P. (Halutzim): My favorite part about camp was Shabbat.

Judah S. (Halutzim): My favorite part about camp was being with my friends.

Tessa N. (Solelim): This summer I've gotten the chance to bond with people and get to know people really well. I've gotten close to people that I didn't think I could be best friends with. The summer has been really fun.

Jamie P. (Shoafim): My favorite thing that happened this summer was when our counselors painted us a bench. It was really cool, and no other counselors did something like that for their campers. Also, I really liked the talent show, and the Rikudiah was amazing. Camp was just great: Shoafim rules!

Avery W. (Shoafim): I can't believe camp is over; I'm really sad. My favorite part was the play; we did "The Little Mermaid." It was really fun. I love my counselors and all our activities.

Elana O. (Nivonim): This summer was unbelievable because of the aidah activities we did. We really grew as an aidah and became really strong. We had a bunch of aidah outings: we went on a canoe trip with just the girls, which was really fun. We had a bunch of fun activities like capture the flag and working out with Gigi. Camp was pretty amazing.

Kirsten R. (Nivonim): This summer was a lot of fun; we did so many different things and really came together as an aidah. I could tell for the first time on the aidah campout that we were going to become very bonded. We did so many fun things, like the Zimriyah and Yom Sport, and the camping trip. It was really amazing and I'm really looking forward to Seminar.
