Rikudiah - Camp wide dance festival
The "Rikudiah" (camp wide dance festival) took place Thursday night. In the Rikudiah, campers from each aidah have the opportunity to perform a dance in front of the entire camp. The songs in each performance are contemporary Hebrew and dances range from hip-hop to ballet to jazz. The entire camp breaks out into rikudei am (Israeli dance) to conclude after all the aidot have performed. This year's dance performances included many camper solos, as well as a Hebrew rap/violin performance in the Nivonim dance. There was a surge of energy and creativity in the beit am and everyone had a great time.
Ilysa S. (Halutzim): My favorite part of the Rikudiah was learning the dance and seeing everyone else's dance. It was really exciting.
Emily G. (Halutzim): My favorite part of the Rikudiah was dancing in front of everybody and dancing with my friends.
Elly K. (Solelim): Our dance genre was hip-hop, so we did our dance to an Israeli hip-hop song. It was a lot of fun. We had to work for a really long time to get all the moves, but it looked really good in the end.
Anna G.K. (Shoa
fim): The Rikudiah was really fun and I love to dance.
Brenna W. (Bogrim): The Rikudiah was a lot of fun and a great experience. For Bogrim we did jazz dance. There were a lot of isolations and jumps and things like that.
Karly S. (Tikvah): I loved the Rikudiah. I got to see all my friends and got to dance with some of the Machoners. I loved it.
Jordy S. (Nivonim): The Rikudiah was a really fun experience because I got to be with all my friends. The theme of our summer was "trying new things," and after performing our Nivonim talent show dance, I decided that being in the Rikudiah dance would be fun and interesting to try.
