Nivonim Presents "Hairspray"

Nivonim (entering 11th grade) sang and danced the night away in the well-known musical "Hairspray" on Monday. In honor of the show, the Nivonim campers dressed up in bright clothing and wore whacky 50's up-dos. They set the stage for the rest of the camp by giving campers in other aidot 50's up-dos as well, truly making it "Yom Hairspray."

Overall, the performance was energy-filled and exceeded everyone's expectations. The audience smiled and sang along through the spirited chorus numbers "Good Morning Baltimore" and "You Can't Stop the Beat," which featured solos from some of the many talented Nivonimers. The entire set was colorful and funky, and everyone loved the giant hairspray bottle off to the side of the stage. Campers and staff agreed that this was a performance to remember. This was also the first time "Hairspray" has ever been performed at camp.

Aliza S. (Nivonim): I thought our play was a wonderful way to bring the aidah together, and that our spirit and enthusiasm as an aidah shined through when we performed "Hairspray."

Ben K. (Nivonim): I thought it was a really high-energy play. It was really fun to be in, no matter if you were a lead or had a small part, or if you were a dancer, it was really fun to just bounce around, sing and dance. I think it was a really good play and I think we did extremely well for the first time this play has been performed at Ramah.
