End of the Summer

Posted: 8/12/2008

As yet another summer winds down at Camp Ramah, we embrace one another for a final time, knowing that these two anticipated months must finally come to a bittersweet end. As the endless chanting in the Chadar Ochel and the breathtaking sunsets overlooking Lake Buckatabon slowly fade into memories, we reflect upon all that the summer has given us and hold onto the people who have filled these idyllic images with personality and character. We will take what we have gained during this 2008 kayitz and wait, once again, to see what the next summer will bring.

Tavi M. (Halutzim): I'm going to miss hanging out with my friends and all the Shabbat activities and just being here, because I love camp.

Yoni S. (Halutzim): I'm going to miss the never ending fruit bowl, sports and friends.

Rachel K. (Solelim): I'm really going to miss camp, because I'm going to miss all my friends and all the sports, like tennis, soccer, track and field. I really, really love camp and it's really sad to leave.

Austin L. (Shoafim): One thing I'm going to miss the most about camp is my friends and the time that we get to spend together.

Lev G. (Shoafim): What I'll miss the most about Camp Ramah is probably waking up every morning with nine cool kids in my room and four great counselors.

Ari V (Shoafim): I'm going to miss mostly all my friends and the atmosphere that is just unbelievable at Machane Ramah.

Jacob M. (Bogrim): What I'm going to miss most about camp is the community feeling here and the ability to live and get along with other people. Here, you get to feel like part of a family, even away from home.

Annie M. (Tikvah): I'm going to miss Kikar dancing, swimming in the lake and praying.

Shira L. (Machon): I'm going to miss the people the most. Since I live in a different state than a lot of my friends, I never get to see my best friends and camp is always a place to reconnect and build our friendship from where we left off. Our friendships always get better and stronger each summer.

Aliza S. (Nivonim): I guess most people are going to say that they miss the summer and the atmosphere, but I'm not only going to miss that; I'm also going to miss being a camper and of course, I'm going to miss my friends who are there for me all the time who know me in a way different than my friends at home do.

Jacob R. (Nivonim): I'm going to miss my friends that live in different places across the United States where the only time we have to be together is here, at Machanenu Ramah. It saddens me that we will be parting for the next school year and I know that many of us will be coming back for Seminar 2009 and we will be Junior Counselors in 2010.

To Machaneh Ramah,

Thank you for enhancing our summers with insight and enjoyment. It has been a pleasure working here with all of you under your mentorship. Finally, thank you all for filling camp with sheer happiness. We have loved getting to know you all, placing a name to each face we captured.
