Shoafim Play - Newsies

Posted: 7/11/2008

Some of the many highlights of the Ramah summer are the musicals that each full summer eidah performs.  These musicals are done completely in Hebrew and everyone in the eidah participates-either by acting in the musical or by working behind the scenes on the stage crew.  Thursday night we came together to see the first musical of the summer, Newsies, performed by Shoafim, with Garinim as the chorus in one of the songs.  Newsies is a new show to the Ramah line-up and everyone was excited to see how the campers would perform.  Because it was the first musical of the summer, the campers had the least amount of time for rehearsal, so they have been working so hard from the day they arrived to get the show ready.  Their hard work definitely paid off and they put on a great show!

Adam Broms (Rosh Shoafim):  I was so proud of the campers.  They really worked so hard for the entire summer.  They pulled it together and made a great opening to the season of Ramah plays.

Gabe Hendin (Junior Counselor, Shoafim):  The campers were just ecstatic tonight.  They were full of energy and they did a wonderful job.

Riley J. (Shoafim):  The play was amazing.  We had so little time, but it was an amazing play.

Gideon G. (Shoafim):  Tonight was amazing.  We've been working so hard for this and it was fun to do it all tonight.

Rachel B. (Shoafim):  We just had our play tonight and it was really fun.  I loved it and it was perfect.

Danielle M. (Shoafim):  Tonight was so much fun and it was great.

Cara S. (Shoafim):  Tonight was amazing.  I'm so proud of our entire eidah.

Rebecca S. (Shoafim):  We just did the play Newsies and it was awesome.

Rachel O. (Shoafim):  We just did the best play ever.

Elise H. (Shoafim):  I have to say that in only a few weeks we pulled off a really good play.

Leora B. (Shoafim):  I think that Newsies is the best play that there ever was.
