Scholarship Information

With regard to scholarship assistance, Camp Ramah in Wisconsin adheres to the following guidelines:

A. The primary source for scholarship funds for Ramah camp programs is the applicant's local Synagogue. Most United Synagogue Congregations provide assistance on behalf of their member families for Ramah camp programs.
B. The secondary source for financial assistance is the applicant's own community. Many Jewish Federations now sponsor camp scholarships on a financial needs basis.

Ramah families living in the Chicagoland area including Northwest Indiana are encouraged to apply to the Campership Program of Chicago, a fund providing scholarships for children attending a Jewish overnight camp for the first or second time. First time campers can receive $1,250, and those attending camp for the second time receive a $750 scholarship. The program is not "needs based." There are no economic criteria. In most instances Ramah families have been able to meet their scholarship needs through these resources.

In a small number of cases Camp Ramah has been called upon to try to locate additional resources to supplement these local allocations. If after checking into the above resources a family is still having difficulty putting together a financial package for the camper's participation at Camp Ramah in Wisconsin, please contact Benji Bearman, Business Manager at bbearman@ramahwisconsin.com or at 312-606-9316 ext. 226 for assistance.
