Campers Participate in the First Annual Bauer's Kayak Race
As a follow up to its annual "Boat Around the Island," four representatives from each aidah (Shoafim, Bogrim, Machon, and Nivo) competed in the first annual Bauer's Kayak Race, a tw
o mile journey beginning at the Bauer's Resort down the road. Sammy B. from Bogrim was the ultimate victor with a time of 33:20, but all campers received a badge and congratulated each other for a race well-played. The water must have felt great after another hot day in Conover!
Teddy H. (Rosh Boating): The first annual Bauer's Kayak Race was a great addition to the boating offerings, transmuting a tradition of the Bauer's Swim Race. The campers all put in tremendous effort. I am very happy to resume this tradition at Machane Ramah [Camp Ramah], as this was one of my favorite events as a camper.
Abby G. (Bogrim Camper): The race was really hard, but I liked that I could put the skills that I learned in boating into practice.
Jordan W. (Nivo Camper): The race was relaxing and enjoyable. It was a nice break from all-day play practice. Go Nivo!
Ella P. (Shoafim Camper): It was hard, but worthwhile in the end because I felt that I had accomplished something big.
Sammy B. (Bogrim Camper): It was hard and long. I paced myself; I was kind of scared because I've never boating that long of a distance before. I'm really excited to have won the race! My team also won the Gus Ramah [three on three basketball] tournament, so I'm two for two!
Jeremy G. (Machon Camper): I loved the event! It was a lot of fun but challenging. Two miles is no easy boating.
