Half Season Garinim (5th Graders)

Garinim provides a taste of Ramah for campers entering 5th grade in Fall 2008. Participants live in a cabin and make new friends from around the Midwest and even from Israel! Enthusiastic counselors guide the campers as they experience all that camp has to offer in one exciting month. Campers play sports, create art, swim and boat. They enjoy overnight trips, campwide events and fun-filled evening activities.

Here's what Mordy Walfish, 2007 Garinim Division Head, had to say about the Garinim experience:

I, along with my wonderful staff, am eager to provide this exciting introduction to Camp Ramah for young campers. We have an important role to play in shaping the foundation for each camper's "journey" here at camp. This summer, we are emphasizingGarinim themes relating to friendship: developing camp friendships, living in shared spaces with friends, and learning and implementing a routine Jewish lifestyle with friends as the summer unfolds.

One of my favorite parts of camp has always been Zimriah music festival and I am looking forward to sharing this event with the Garinim campers. I can already sense their enthusiasm during our rehearsals. This is the first time they will present their ru'ach (spirit) to the rest of the camp and I know they can't wait.

Garinim's success is proof that coming to camp at a young age is not only possible, but essential for campers' personal and communal development. Here, Garinim campers learn together, in a supportive environment, about becoming independent while becoming a community. The 2007 group is having an invaluable experience and I can't wait to watch them grow as an aidah throughout the coming years.
