  • Zimriah 2007: 60 Years of Ramah Wisconsin

    The lights are low. The cheering is loud. Each aidah enters the Beit Am (auditorium) proudly sporting their colored t-shirts for the Zimriah 2007. The intensity and excitement grows as each new group enters. The orchestra tunes up on the stage, and the production crew tests out the microphones and acoustics. The Nivonim MCs quickly practice their lines before their aidah enters. Finally, the festival begins as each aidah stands up to present their ru'ach (spirit) to the entire camp for the first time. Campers and staff members recount the enthusiasm last night that was Zimriah 2007.

  • Presenting Sollelim and Rosh Aidah, Rebecca Landis!

    Rebecca Landis is this year's Rosh Sollelim. Rebecca is from Highland Park, Illinois and was a camper at Camp Ramah in Wisconsin from 1996-2001, attended the Ramah Israel Seminar in 2002, and was a counselor from 2003-2005. She recently graduated from Brandeis University and plans to move to New York in the fall. Rebecca is excited this year to return in a new position with new ideas and excitement.

  • Nivonim Interns: Hard at Work

    As campers approach their later camper years, they often look forward to being on staff after attending the Ramah Seminar in Israel. Many staff members describe that they come back to camp summer after summer to recreate the positive and enriching summers they had as campers and to "give back to camp." The Nivonim Internship Project is structured to enable Nivonim campers to contribute to specific anafim (departments) that they have enjoyed and thrived in as campers. Around camp today, Nivonimers are preparing to begin their internships, and share their excitement for the different areas in which they will work.

  • Camp Ramah Lifeguards in Training!

    One of the most rewarding parts of camp for many campers is the acquisition of new skills and talents, applicable to the Camp Ramah setting and to external environments. Accordingly, the Lifeguard Training program (LGT) is offered to Machon campers (entering 10th grade) as a swimming course. This year, about 20 campers will complete the program and receive their lifeguard certification at the end of the summer. Here are their impressions and goals for the LGT program this summer.

  • Spotlight on Carl Schrag, Visiting Scholar in Residence

    This week, Camp Ramah in Wisconsin had the privilege of hosting Carl Schrag, national educator and journalist, and former editor-in-cheif of the Jerusalem post. Through camper and staff seminars, Carl shares his insight regarding the implications of the 40th anniversary of the Six Day War.

  • What's your favorite place in Camp Ramah?

    Although many campers return year after year to see their camp friends and counselors, many are also deeply attached to the physical place itself. All agree that Camp Ramah is beautiful, from its green hills to its glistening lake to its shaded walkways. For many, different spots at camp are associated with wonderful camp memories. When asking different people around camp about their favorite camp spots, these memories and attachments were clearly evident. Here are some of Ramahniks' favorite spots in camp.

  • Swimming in Lake Buckatabon - The First Island Swim!

    One of Camp Ramah in Wisconsin's traditions is to hold several island swims during the summer. All campers and staff are welcome to participate, and the Tzevet Agam (waterfront staff) supervises the campers' swim from an island across the lake back to camp. Yesterday was the first island swim of the summer and a diverse selection of people attended. Here, some of the participants share their thoughts on this unique camp tradition.

  • Yom Meyuchad - 6/20

    Every Wednesday, each aidah participates in programming that is relevant to their development and to their interests. Called "Yom Meyuchad" (Special Day), campers have the opportunity to learn, to create, and to play with their peers.   • Tikvah Chaverim Program

    For many campers, a main highlight of the summer is building friendships. The Tikvah Chaverim program helps to create sustainable relationships between Tikvah campers and Machon campers. Throughout the summer, individuals from each group are paired up with each other to experience the fun of camp together. Here, this year's participants express their enthusiasm for the program. Even though the summer is just beginning, Machon and Tikvah campers alike attest to the program's success.
