Divrei Torah Archive

Welcome to the Camp Ramah in Wisconsin Devar Torah Library.

Camp Ramah in Wisconsin offers our campers many diverse learning opportunities in Hebrew Language and Jewish text study.

The Beit Midrash Program, founded in the summer of 5760/2000 by Rabbi Josh Cahan and Aryeh Bernstein, gives campers the opportunity to study Mishnah and Talmud for up to an hour and a half a day in an interactive and engaging environment in supervised hevrutot (study pairs) and shiurim (seminar-style classes). From an inaugural group of 28 campers that summer, the Beit Midrash has grown to a peak of 76 campers, ranging from Shoafim (8th grade) through Nivonim (11 th grade), and spanning the camp community's full range of educational backgrounds including campers from both day schools and religious schools.

More than just these classes, the Beit Midrash has fostered a learning community, one component of which has been our alumni internet Devar Torah Program. Since our first off-season, the teachers of the Beit Midrash have written divrei torah on each weekly Torah portion and Jewish holiday, sending them to Beit Midrash alumni over email. As our alumni community has grown, a number of other campers and staff members have joined the list as well as dozens of adult members of the Ramah Wisconsin community. Over 400 people currently receive our divrei torah every week. If you wish to join the list and receive new weekly divrei torah, please email aryeh_bernstein@yahoo.com.

Here, in our Beit Midrash Devar Torah Library, we have selected from these divrei torah and added Hebrew texts to them where relevant. We plan to add more and are considering other projects through which this website can be a resource for your Torah learning interests. Please give us feedback! If you wish to comment on the structure of this site or suggest other ways it might grow to meet your educational needs, please email aryeh_bernstein@yahoo.com. If you wish to ask a question or comment on content within a particular devar torah, feel free to email its author. Email addresses for the authors can be found by following the "Know your authors" link.

Enjoy your learning!
